The pace is glacial

If there’s one thing we’re good at, it’s taking things slow and not stressing out. Six months ago I wrote that we were about to record some new songs. Well, it turns out we haven’t actually done that yet… We’ve been pretty busy doing… Other stuff… But I assure you we’ll start recording the (not so) new songs soon(er or later)… Brace yourselves, because it’s gonna sound awesome!

And remember – music will forever stand.

Jay Reatard at Umeå Open

Jay Reatard will play at Umeå Open 2009! I love it!

We’ll Find New Homes

Ok, this is not a new song. It was recorded about four years ago and was featured on The Northern Conspiracy Vol. 1 compilation, released by Discouraged Records in 2005. We’ve actually posted the track on this site before, so consider this recycling…

Recording new songs in January

I know I really should write more interesting stuff about our band instead of just recommending other artists all the time… But there isn’t that much to tell you about Royal Downfall at the moment. We’re working on new songs and will start recording them in January. I assure you that it’s going to sound awesome. :)

So… Back to recommending other bands… As usual I thought I’d tell you about some of the stuff I’ve been listening to this week… First of all: I love doom! And this week I’ve rediscovered the classic (and reunited!) doom band Saint Vitus. Heavy guitar riffs and great vocals by Scott Weinrich. I’ve also listened to Scottish band Frightened Rabbit. Not as heavy though. But good stuff!

On the playlist: Idoru

I just bought Idoru’s d.i.y. EP Dots Became Lines and I really like it and thought I’d recommend it. Good songs, great vocals. Check them out at MySpace or read a review and download a track from It’s a Trap.

Spotify

I was playing around with Spotify tonight. I don’t know exactly how useful it is yet, but it’s good fun! You can check out “the (un)official Royal Downfall Spotify playlist” right here… :)

Royal Downfall och fildelning
